British researchers recently released the results of an intriguing study. They found people with more Facebook friends tend to have areas of the brain that are larger than those of the people with less friends on the social networking site. How curious!
To learn more about the brain, take a look at our Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience course. It was taught by an MIT student especially for high school students. And there are videos!

BostInnovation.com takes a look at OCW and describes what they see as our impact on higher education. Here's an excerpt.
"Initially, the expectation was that educators would use the syllabi, lecture notes, assignments and exams from MIT courses to design their own courses, according to the MIT News Office. Over time, however, more and more independent learners emerged, becoming the primary users of MIT's OCW. To date, there have been 122 million views by 87 million visitors from nearly every country across the globe. The program has reached students from Nigeria, Mexico, Ghana and Zambia, in places where higher education isn't readily available nor necessarily emphasized."

"Thank you for sharing your courses! I homeschool a computer science/math obsessed son and I don't know very much about the subjects myself. OCW has courses my son couldn't find at the community college and has helped sate his curiosity until he can finally get into more advanced courses when he enrolls in college. Thank you!"
