Pop Culture |

When I think about the word culture, lots of things pop into my head such as music, language, food, etc. But the one that always stays in my mind is music. Music is very important to me. I think it reflects me and tells who I am. On my instruments I feel as if I could express myself and let all my sadness, pain, or anger out. Some people disagree with me because they think that they can express themselves in other ways: instead of playing the instruments they listen to music. Maybe listening to certain music like the songs played by bands are relaxing, but I wonder, "how can people express themselves by only listening to music?" Clarinet and base show how I’m feeling at the moment. When I play the clarinet, I am able to show when I’m sad, happy, or in some type of pain. Similarly, when I play the base I’m usually mad, happy, or just bored. I think that when I’m sad and play my music other people can relax. Nowadays, lots of people mess up the music culture with the language they use in songs or with the beats they use to play instruments. Some singers sing songs that sometimes don’t even make sense and disrespect other cultures, beliefs, and feelings. Other people that play instruments make beats that give others headaches or make the music hard to understand. I think everyone should take their favorite music and see that in some way it reflects who they are. |
