The dissection of the nerve through the knee is similar to its dissection through the hip. Before freeing the nerve at the knee, dissect the nerve in the calf. When you are sure you can visualize the nerve, cut the tendon which covers the nerve at the knee. Hemostat and cut any small blood vessels that cross over the nerve.
