Power

The power $$P$$ is defined as the rate of doing work:

$\displaystyle P =\frac{dW}{dt} = \vec{F}\cdot\vec{v}$

The SI unit of power is the watt (W) which is equal to 1 joule per second:

$\displaystyle 1 \text{W}\equiv 1\frac{\text{J}}{\text{s}}$
