There are no formal prerequisites for this course. Enrollment in this course requires permission from the instructors.

Readings

There is no single textbook for the class, but a substantial selection of journal articles and news items are listed in the readings section.

Course Requirements

Working as a multidisciplinary team, students will complete a final project that explores in-depth a question related to drug discovery and / or development in the context of a specific illness or disorder. The project deliverables will consist of a presentation, report, progress report, and outline.

In addition to the final project, student groups are required to deliver one in-class presentation during the semester on “News of the Week” to focus on the latest developments in pharmaceuticals that are covered in the news media.
