Apart from doing the weekly readings, students will complete three types of assignments for the class:

Oral presentation**:** Students are required to present on the weekly theme for one session (they will choose which session they will present upon on the first day of class). Presentations will be given either individually or in pairs and should be limited to 10 to 20 minutes maximum. During the presentation, students will be required to speak to the class rather than read a pre-written text.

Short-answer papers: For those sessions below with a question listed, students will be required to write a short, half-page argument responding to the question.

Stylistic composition and essay: Students will write a 3 page short story with four different characters, whose sex, sexual orientation, and gender are different. The rule is to write without using any mark of grammatical gender. The students will additionally attach a 2-page essay explaining who the characters are and how they managed to make them identifiable as men, women, gays, lesbians, transsexuals, bisexuals, transgenders, queers, etc.
