Chapter 17: The Product Rule and Differentiating Vectors

Introduction

The product rule for differentiation applies as well to vector derivatives. In fact it allows us to deduce rules for forming the divergence in non-rectangular coordinate systems. This can be accomplished by finding a vector pointing in each basis direction with 0 divergence.
