Marine Chemistry

Session 19: Early Diagenesis I

This lecture introduces marine sediments as a crucial but often overlooked part of chemical oceanography. Although the sediment surface layer is only 10–20 cm thick, it acts as a major interface between the ocean water column and buried sediments—similar in importance to the air–sea boundary or estuaries.
