Experiential Ethics

Workshop Guidelines

In week 8, you will workshop your independent project and its shareable component with your peers.

Pre-session assignment:

For your week 8 session, come prepared to give a three-to-five-minute presentation. You should present a draft of your final project’s shareable component. That is, if your final project will be a paper and you plan to have a poster as your shareable component, bring a draft of that poster, or a list of things you want it to include. If you have questions about how to draft your shareable component, talk with your TF.

Your presentation should include the following:

  • The ethical question you are focusing on
  • Any necessary background to understanding that question
  • Which class concepts or tools you are using to explore your question
  • Your current thoughts or answers to your question
  • Where you would like feedback

For this presentation, you should be far enough along in your project to not only have a clear guiding ethical question, but some preliminary responses to that question. The workshop will be most useful to you if you have specific questions for your peers about where to take the project next.

Post-session assignment:

Provide peer feedback on one or two of your classmates’ project presentations. TAs will give more detailed instructions in class. Include (1) one thing you like about your classmate’s project that you think they should keep and/or build on; and (2) either a response to a question they posed to the group during their presentation or one thing you think they should clarify, improve, or delve deeper into.
